Blogging

If you want to become a successful blogger, you will need great motivation and interest in the subject you are writing about. You must be very familiar with your writing niche and you will need constant inspiration. Lack of the inspiration is the main reason why many blogs cease to exist after a while.

To create successful blog you have to write often, every day or every other day. This kind of schedule may be too much for one person to cope with. And this is the first advantage of group blogging. More authors can create more content in short period of time. Let’s say seven authors are working on single blog. Each one needs to write four articles per month in order to keep blog updated every day. This means just one article per week by one author.

Another positive thing about this is that if you need to write one article per week instead of seven, your posts will have better quality, thus, you will generate bigger buzz and traffic. Blog quality will increase for another simple reason – different authors will have different opinions on the same subject. In this way, by confronting opinions and views, chances for good discussion are greater.

Perhaps the most important group blogging advantage is easier content promotion. As you already know, nowadays is not enough just to write posts. To attract visitors you have to be active in social networking. You have to learn what social networks and social bookmarking services are and how you can use them. It is important to get to know Twitter, BlogCatalog, Digg, StumbleUpon and other services. The trick is to have more accounts, one for every author on all major social networks and social bookmarking services. For example if seven person dig or stumble your story, you increase chances for you content to become more popular and get more traffic. Since every author has only one account, this is not against TOS.

If we take into consideration everything mentioned above, it is clear that group blogging has better monetization chances. Authors who are part of the team working on one blog project will earn more than to work alone, considering amount of time spent for writing articles and promotion.

Aside from obvious advantages, group blogging also has its problems. The biggest problem is how to find suitable team members and how to synchronize bloggers’ work on a single project. Someone must make decisions about project development directions, work distribution and money. That’s not always easy in system without hierarchy.
