I like to eat. Do you like to eat? One of my favorite foods is chili con carne. Chili has no meat. Chili con carne has meat. I put ground meat in my chili con carne. I put in kidney beans, chili powder, green or red peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomato sauce and lean ground beef. With cold beer you can’t beat a bowl of my chili con carne with a stick.

A blog likes to eat, too. You do know what a blog likes to eat, right? It eats visits. It eats hits. If you want your blog to grow up big and strong you’ve got to feed it plenty of hits. I want my blog to grow up big and strong so let me tell you what I’m doing to feed it as many hits as possible.
Right now I have seven sites that feed my blog hits. They are Triond, Feedburner, Twitter, Wordpress, Flash Fiction Chronicles, Every Day Fiction and Wordriot. I’m always on the look out for other sites to feed my blog.
I joined Feedburner and Twitter so that any time I publish anything on my blog I get a link on their sites. My blog is on Wordpress so I’m a part of their network and my blog gets all kinds of backlinks from Wordpress. When I publish on Triond I leave a backlink. And when I leave a comment on the other three sites I get a backlink, too. Then of course I try to be smart about search engines and I make sure my blog posts have plenty of good tags.
The sites I mentioned are constantly sending me visitors. Some of the visitors become subscribers to my blog. Some submit content. And some even click on the link to buy my ebook. Now remember, I’m just a small time blogger. I still have lots to learn.
But if I can do this any blogger can do it. Blogging is a process. Blogging is an investment. Like any growing organism a blog has to be fed. I probably have a lot more time to invest in blogging than most of you reading this. But if you make a point of leaving backlinks on one or two sites in the same niche as your own blog and you do this on a regular basis I bet your blog will grow stronger, too.
My blog is the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette

Guy,
I love the tips you give in your articles. My problem seems to be too many sites in the works and too many hours to get them up and running smoothly. How do you manage it all? I have come back to Triond in a big way; the other writing sites just didn’t pay at all. I don’t expect to get rich writing here, but some pennies now and then are a good thing!!! What’s a backlink? See what a dope I am!!!!
Madison, I deal with only two sites: Triond and my personal blog. A backlink is a link that sends you hits.
Great write up Guy. You have bags of experience and it shows!
Wow, this is really a simple and very helpful tip. thanks for sharing!
I’m new here in Triond too, and I’m also looking for ways for people to visit my articles, reading this gave me some ideas..thanks
