Blogging

Since Google acquired Feedburner, Inc. on June 1, 2007, they have been working to fuse the Feedburner application into Google hardware, software and data centers. Now they have unveiled their new integrated system.

Feedburner is a service that can track the subscriptions to the blog article feeds of your web site. This tracking feature is very important for people who are really working on increasing their viewer base and optimizing their web site for greater visibility. Feedburner allows the owner of the blog the ability to track such things as:

  • Subscribers
  • Live Hits
  • Item Use

You also have the ability to add email subscriptions to your blog site. Email Subscriptions allow your customers to subscribe to your blog and receive an update in their personal email box every time you post a new article. It saves them time from having to check your web site for updates.  The concept is very simple: no blog article – no email – no spam! They can cancel the subscription at any time and your customers, friends, family, fans, or clients will instantly get taken off the subscription list. They will not have to wait ten weeks for someone to update the servers in order for you to be removed. Also, included in the Feedburner service is the added feature of tracking all your stats on your email subscriptions.

Another great feature of Feedburner is the fact that it can also track “site stats”, although that feature will be phased out and Google Analytics will be taking over that function.

Google Adsense & Tracking the Money

Remember in after the movie Jerry McGuire came out, everyone was saying: “Show Me the Money?” Feedburner has a feature where you can track your Google Adsense account and actually track your money and which ads are pulling the money and which ads are dudes.

Effective immediately, you are now able to merge your Feedburner account with your Google account and track them all in the same place. No more having to login to two different accounts – one just to see your subscription stats, another to check Google Analytics, and another to view your how your Adsense ads are doing. For more detailed information on what features are going to be available and which ones are going to become obsolete click: Transferring FeedBurner Accounts to Google and see what is new. Users of Feedburner will have until February 28, 2009 to have their account transfered.

The merging technologies will allow you to be more efficient and more detailed for all of your subscription, and ad tracking needs. Two great services – now on one easy-to-use platform.
