Blogging Without Fear

It’s good to be able to make money from your passion.  If your passion is blogging, you may want to give more thought to the originality of the content on your blog.

Remember, there are millions of bloggers on the Internet.  To one degree or another, bloggers use links, software, social networks, tags and other methods to market their blogs.  Everyone is doing the same thing.  Some bloggers do it better than others.  But when you get right down to it, successful blogging still comes down to content.  The reader wants articles that entertain or have useful information.  The challenge for the blogger is originality.

The way I see it, everyone on Triond is really blogging for Triond.  We are bloggers for Triond.  We try to entice readers to click on our content.  In this situation, originality can be crucial.

Originality in an article is very difficult to come by.  We bloggers are creatures of our environment.  We feed off of each others’ ideas.

Take this article for example.  I haven’t read an article about originality on Triond.  That doesn’t mean there isn’t one.  My point is this article is trying to be original.  The title is trying to be original.  This poor blogger is trying to be original and it hurts.  I have the suspicion that I’m not being original at all.

Still, we Triond bloggers have to keep pushing to come up with a new twist or a unique insight or even several old ideas put together in a new way.

I’m just standing up for originality.  I wish my blogging had more originality.

It is there, the originality and creativity. You just have to dig a little.

If you want to be creative and original you gotta find it

You’re great at what you do, don’t pull yourself down so much. People don’t search for original content, they search (and will continue to search) for the same things for as long as the internet is around. People always have the same questions, the idea is finding new ways to answer them. :)

  4. I think your advice in a previous article to write about what you know helps us to be original or to put an original slant on a familiar issue.

  5. Sourav says:

    Nice thought… appreciate it!

Joshua, yes it is there. It’s just that it’s so hard to find. I guess that’s why originality has such great value.

  7. Guy Hogan says:

royee, you’re right about that. It takes real effort. I guess nothing worth doing well is easy.

  8. Guy Hogan says:

emmahaynes, yes you’re absolutely right. I guess new ways of expressing old truths are as close as we can get to originality. And some pretty original things can come from that.

  9. Jane Benitez says:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on being original. Nice article.

Frances, I think writing about what you know definitely will help with originality. It gets the mind going in new directions on a familiar subject.

  11. Guy Hogan says:

Papa, blogging is such an important part of the Internet experience. Too bad so much of blogging seems to be rehashing what someone else has written.

  12. Guy Hogan says:

Sourav, I like blogging and like every other blogger I have to remind myself to try to come up with something new as much as possible. It’s not easy.

  13. Guy Hogan says:

Jane, I think originality is difficult to find. It is probably even more difficult to produce.

  14. Borneon says:

Indeed originality is hard to find. That what makes an article different from each other

  15. Tlchimes says:

People can talk about the same thing and still be original…. by saying things from a new direction, with a different tone or style.

    Great read, thanks.

Great ideas and topics you come up with. good work. Originality and creativity go hand in hand. There are ways to do it. I bought a journal and I take it with me anywhere I go and just jot down ideas. some people look at me strange but who cares.. lol.

. A suggestion to be followed by everyone.

  18. Write Easy says:

You are so right…as mentioned in my other article in originality, “Do you writing any more?”, we have to strive for it..people are mostly reycling the same thing. There has to be a stop to it…I can see you are at it already! Great work!

  19. deep blue says:

Nobody writes and thinks like Guy Hogan so in my opinion your works are original on your own right. You have another point worth pondering my friend, thanks.

  20. Yes, I’ve often wondered about the originality aspect. I don’t want to spend my writing hours re-churning information that anyone can find on Wikipedia. For me, writing on Triond has become a way of trying to hone my craft for bigger things. Maybe I’m just shooting for the moon, but we all have to start somewhere.

  21. Guy Hogan says:

Borneon, I do try to make my articles as original as possible but it doesn’t always work.

  22. Guy Hogan says:

Tichimes, that’s mainly what a writer has to do. As an old saying goes, there is nothing new under the sun.

  23. Guy Hogan says:

marlene, I use to carry around a little notebook but I haven’t done that in years. Maybe I should get back into the habit.

  24. Ruby Hawk says:

I certainly know what you mean, we do try our best.

  25. J J Neuman says:

I think it’s so much about content but not sure always sure about originality? I read that many writers are writing about celebrity tabloid stuff and getting readers’ attention. That doesn’t seem original to me but it sounds effective. It’s kind of overwhelming we are dealing with demographics. I try to make an article appeal to everyone but that’s unrealistic, knowing that what I’m writing will appeal to a certain group(s). But then, I see Triond writers posting those amazing feat or amazing factual stories and headlines that seem original and are effective.

  26. giftarist says:

Great piece..You imparted as a great thought! Thanks

  27. Guy Hogan says:

chitragopi, it’s a suggestion I struggle to follow all the time.

  28. Guy Hogan says:

  29. Guy Hogan says:

deep blue, I do the best I can. It’s a constant struggle.

  30. Guy Hogan says:

blackrockrose, I think Triond is an excellent place to start and you have to aim high. If you aim high you are sure to hit something.

  31. Guy Hogan says:

Ruby, it is so tough to try to be original. You just have to keep pushing yourself and hope for the best.

  32. Guy Hogan says:

J J, there is no doubt that writing about celebrities and other popular topics can get lots of readers. A writer has to make a decision, to write about popular topics or to try to be original. It’s all up to the writer what kind of writer to be.

  33. Guy Hogan says:

giftarist, originality in writing is to be greatly admired because it is so rare.

  34. I have always tried to be original, unique, However things that interest me, don’t always interest others.
