Blogging -What’s Your Aim?

Blogging

Apparently, 99 percent of people who are interested in making money from their blogs fail! The reason? I will explore another time. Right here, the focus is all on Blogging -what’s your aim?

Recently, I started a blog called airwaterlight. Read ah2ol(a for air, h2o for water, and l for light!). If you are interested in the genesis of the name. here I go, the aim of my blog was to share one thought everyday(whatever comes to my mind between 9 am – 12 noon, UK time) followed by musings or whatever…

..airwaterlight seemed like an appropriate title given the main purpose of my blog! The three basic elements of life: AIR WATER and LIGHT. And what better way to describe thoughts of being and sharing…blogging and living!

Eureka! Excited, I was, to set foot into blog world, independent of Triond at last!

This was quite some days ago(not a month yet!)…I still love my blog idea…though I am wondering now should I have chosen something else?

Which brings me to the question: Blogging -what’s your aim?

1) Self expression, plain and simple?

2) An exploration of your creativity?

3) Maintaining a record of life events, aspirations, or whatever else?

4) A boredom buster!?

5) Curiosity to know how it all works?

6) Following the herd!?( Everyone has a blog and so I must have one too!)

7) Selling your product?

8) Promoting your services or expertise?

9) Sharing your knowledge?

10) Meeting new people? (dating even!)

11) And lastly, attempting to generate an income?

My aim for airwaterlight was mainly 1,5,6…while the food blog chirmooli that followed was entirely for reason no 3, creating a record of my recipes and also a bit of no 9 too.

I love to share my recipes!(According to my granny(an excellent cook!), she passed away ten years ago, ” a good cook never shares the real stuff!” Sorry Gran, as much as I loved you, I don’t ascribe to your views on this and I believe I am a fantastic cook myself -husband agrees, totally!)

Why didn’t I pick no. 11 as one of the aims for my blogs? I have linked my blog to google adsense but frankly, I am not quite sure how it all really works(whether it works at all?). I am exploring the possibilities however, and generating an income would definitely be a long term goal but for now my aim is primarily to check out the viability of my idea for airwaterlight.

I want reader feedback(and as much as I am tempted to invite you’ll to visit my blog and give me your opinion on it…I am not doing it! I know how overworked we all are on Triond! So it’s OK guys and girls if you don’t look up my blog!).

Thank you for reading this! Have a nice day!

And it’s great to have the old comment box back! Cheers

I have a hard time fitting internet into my busy life. Yet, each day it gets squeezed in, usually at the end of the day when I’m ready to sit back and relax. Your article is well written and very nicely done. Thanks, for another really good share.

Hi Avis! I have blogs because it’s through these blogs that I am able to express my thoughts and feelings. I do not make much money from adsense here because my blogs aren’t that good anyway and I only get a few visitors. But I do it to express myself.

I had a blog and just didn’t put the time and commitment in it and they do often fail which doesn’t mean that yours will or that mine had to. I think they’re very nice. I wish you the best and will visit.
