Blogging

The top reasons for creating and maintaining an online blog.

When blogging first came to the forefront of the “Internet lifestyle” we heard about early adopters getting millions from their blogging software, but most of us were still in the dark as to what blogging was and how it could benefit us. If you are still wondering, here are a couple of reasons why blogging has become the big thing on the Internet.

Free and Easy to Set Up

You can set up an online blog and not pay a dime. All that you do is select a blogging site, choose a template, and start writing. It’s very simple. Once you are up, the blogging site handles the distribution of your blog throughout their website based on the categories and subjects you describe for your blog. For example, if you are looking to blog on books, you will be categorized with in the “book section.” Everyone who visits the book section will see your blog listed, and as long as you blog regularly it will stay at the top of each section. Most blogs even have a place where you can check the statistics as far as how many people are visiting on a daily basis and where they are coming from.

You’re Looked at as an Authority or Expert

Once you start blogging you are seen as an expert in your field, whether you are or not. If you have something worthwhile to talk about, people will listen. All that you need to do is brainstorm one or two topics that you feel you know the most about and start talking about it. When you are relatable to the reader, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how responsive they are to your writings.

Advertising Product and Services Without be Conspicuous

The great thing about being seen as an authority or expert on a subject is that people trust your judgment when purchasing items that are in your area of expertise. For example, if you blog about fishing, and just so happen to own a fishing pole business, you would direct readers to your website from your blog. You can do this by throwing a link in the text expertly or just placing a link on the side bar of your blog so that people will visit your site. Don’t underestimate the number of people who click those backlinks based on what they have read in your blog. Check your stats.

Blogging is easy to use, makes you somewhat of an authority, and allows you to make money by advertising products that are associated with your topics. Some people have even been known to sell their blogs for thousands of dollars because they are just that popular. Now that you have a basis on what the point of blogging is in the first place, maybe now you will become a part of this Internet craze.
