I Learn This the Hard Way
When I started blogging, I learned by myself. I read blogs on blogging, search engine optimization, on optimizing ad placements, and on link building. And I was good to go. Or so I thought.
I created my own blog, wrote content that I think were great, tried to earn some links and installed Google Adsense. And then I waited.
I did all of what they are teaching. But I was not getting the results I wanted. My content only got a few views. I am not getting any links. And, of course, I only earned one cent a month from Google Adsense.
I almost gave up. Until I learned about connections.
“Connections” Is The Online Word For “friends”
Have you seen any movie where the main character have no friends? You haven’t. I haven’t. Because that’s the way it’s meant to be.
Look at the successful bloggers. Do they have friends? Of course. They also have colleagues and they also have their families.
You may think that those friends are only there because they are already popular bloggers. No. They have been with them all the time, especially in the hard times.
The Key to Successful Blogging
The key to a successful blogging career is to build last connections in the online world. Make real friends. Check out their latest blog posts. Comment on them without asking anything in return. Offer them help if they need it. Converse with them like neighbors and not like prospective customers. Treat them like humans and not as business opportunities.
Let go of what you’ve learned about blogging and start reaching out.
Still Don’t Believe Me?
If you are still worried, look at it this way. If you want your ads be clicked, you’ll need to get a lot of views. In order to get a lot of views, your blog need to appear on the search engines. For your blog to appear on the search engines, you need inbound links. To get inbound links, you need friends. Real friends who are willing to link to your blog and help you in any way that they can. And in order to make real friends, you need to be there for them too.
One More Thing…
There’s one more thing you need to understand. You need to keep it real. Because if you’re not real on your friendships, you’re only using them. And it’s evil to use your friends.
Blogging is not a “you” game, it’s a “we” game.

Great realization. It’s awesome learning something from those who’ve been there and done that.
That’s what I am trying to master right now. I have realized that there are a lot of good people on the internet. I can learn many things from them, while I share my thoughts as welll.
Potential income then becomes a secondary thing. Funny because the more you don’t think of it, the easier it is achieved.
That’s the goal of every blogger out there and I like that you are as opinionated as you are. People looking to make money online are looking for ‘money’ therefore they are not patient.
It took me two years to get to where I am today and I can say that if I hadn’t gone through the hardships that I did, I wouldn’t be where I am and I wouldn’t have given the blogging thing a chance. Everything cannot be easy but bloggers trying to make a difference like you, I and several others can make it easier. Thank you for voicing your opinion.

Hi Likha, I am not yet there. Haha.. Like pinkrose88, I am still mastering this.
pinkrose88, the internet is really a place for sharing. It’s really ironic that money comes when you’re not looking for it.
Diverseblogger, blogging is really a patience game. You need to put a lot of effort to it for a blog to become something.
