It seems that work-at-home scams are everywhere, teasing us from getting away from our offices and making our own way. In truth, there is a lot of money to be made in some of these work-from-home opportunities and there are already quite a few people out there that have realized that keeping a rant, a diary, or just a laundry list of miscellaneous topics might actually make money.

It seems that work at home scams are everywhere, teasing us from getting away from our offices and making our own way. In truth, there is a lot of money to be made in some of these work from home opportunities and there are already quite a few people out there that have realized that keeping a rant, a diary, or just a laundry list of miscellaneous topics might actually make money.

It has been said that the readership of blogs is about a 6th grade level for reading comprehension. Unfortunately, this does not encourage extremely high quality content like the newspaper editors of yesteryear. It effectively lowers the bar for all the prolific would-be Hemingways out there. In another way, it really makes it easier to reach out to the audience with content that requires less research and overall brain power to compose. In the end, blog-style content feels more human, opinion based, and thus easier for the reader to comprehend.

Huge communities of freelance writers have evolved online with large teams forming remotely. Some of these teams have never actually met each other in person and the majority of their work is accomplished via Skype or by email. Many teams in third world countries offer to create 500 word articles for sometimes as little as a dollar and sometimes even less. In these websites where authors compete for work, it is often the case that quantity trumps quality.

For some time, the way to make money from your own website was either selling your own products or another’s products through an affiliate program. Great affiliate programs do exist, but the truth is that it can be quite challenging to make a sale and keep your commission. Most companies are strict about how their products are marketed making reading the terms and conditions of any agreement essential before actually starting any advertising. Often certain obvious keywords that are essential to making a sale are off limits making the implementation of a marketing program for the affiliate pretty difficult for the novice.

Adsense has revolutionized the monetization of blogs and article content. With Adsense, bloggers now have the ability (on some blogs) to make their blog more useful for the user by providing links to relevant content. Users simply surf into the blog, do some light reading, click on an ad, and the cycle continues. The blogger then earns some pocket change every time an ad is clicked. Yes, it’s pocket change as it is usually less than a dollar each time, however, this passive income grows given time and proper promotion.

So it is more than just possible to make a living working from home or in truth wherever you are that particular day. The problem is that many do not have the time, desire, or the extra money needed to actually make it a reality.
