I’ve made another editorial decision at the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, my personal blog. First let me point out something interesting.

In the agreement every user makes with Triond, there’s a line that says the user will not use Triond for self promotion. Well, I often put in a link to my personal blog in my content here at Triond. If that’s not self promotion then what is?
Here’s my theory on why Triond allows me to do it. On nearly every post of my blog I put at least one link back to my content on Triond; then in the sidebar on the right there must be another 200 links back to Triond. And I have links in the pages of the blog. There must be 400 links on that blog back to Triond; and the number of links keeps growing. Since OutBrain has recently been sending me a lot fewer hits and since my blog sends three times as many hits to me as OutBrain…I think you get the picture. What’s good for the Gazette is good for Triond. That’s why Triond allows me to promote the Gazette here. I really don’t know why. That’s just my theory. Triond considers the Gazette to be an online marketing tool for Triond.
What is the editorial decision that I’ve made about the Gazette?
Triond takes up so much of my time that blogging ever day on the Gazette simply is not doable; but the Gazette has over 1,000 pieces of content on it and over 3,000 different tags on it. Search engines have no difficulty finding the Gazette. So, I’m going to cut back to blogging only four times a week.
Now all the literature that I’ve read about successful blogging, even for small bloggers, says there is one thing a blogger must never do even if the blog is not published every day.
Don’t dilute the quality of the content. So, whatever you do, don’t dilute the quality of your content.

I must go to sleep and log off from triond for today. The title of your article caught my attention. User must not use triond for self-promotion. I have read this one before. After reading your article, I learned not to dilute the quality of your content. Great advice like usual.
Great advice. Thnx for the wonderful share.
Nobody on earth knows why Triond does what it does.
I agree with Ken aint no place else on earth like Triond. But its comfy here so here i’ll be. Another great one from you.
great advice Guy
Interesting theory Guy. You’re doing a lot of work and I hope you reach your goals.
Blessings.
Totally agree Guy I dont know how some Triond writers can produce 5 or 6 articles a day! Their content definately suffers in my humble opinion. LB
great advice man .. i am your fan
We should all strive for quality no matter what site.
Quality advice..Thanks for sharing this.
Very interesting and well written. I always enjoy reading your marketing policies! Well done Guy!
Thank you very much. Great write.
nice advice
You always write quality articles and give very good advice, so you must be doing something right.
Christine
sunshine, there comes a time for me every day when enough is enough and I turn off the computer, too. As the saying goes, tomorrow is another day.
Anuradha, these and other tips are just things I find out as I go my merry way blogging and writing.
Good advice as always. Don’t we all use Triond for self promotion one way or another?
Great write!
I believe that I promote Triond much more than myself. I pass out business cards with links to Triond, have Triond links on all three blogs and within my profile of every online marketing network I have signed up for (there are quite a few). I have had some who do not write on Triond leave links to various places in comments they have left for me, but if they don’t write here they have signed no agreement, so are not infringing. I wish marketing was not such a big part of writing. I would love to dedicate time to research and writing and not worry about anything else.
You are my number one source for blogging. My husband and I both read your articles and try to put them to good use. Thanks again.
Good article! I always find it interesting to read peoples ideas.
I hope lots of readers read your blog and your triond articles, too!
Quality over quantity every time.
Thanks for sharing your experience..
I could very well stay for a blog a day. That makes my readers cling to my posts. Maybe if I have 250 posts by the first half of this year I could cut back to 4 blogs a week. Well diluting is a trade secret. That’s what they do in the bar to sell too much booze. Thanks, my friend.
I agree with martie and bailieman. It’s better to publish 1 article a day to give it enough exposure that it needs and there’s a greater chance for people to actually take time to read it than having so many articles published in a day where people would probably be less interested to read all of those posts.
Very good site.. thanks webmasters…
