I haven’t bought or looked at a Playboy Magazine in years. I wonder what online porn has done to Playboy’s sales? The founder of the magazine, Hugh Hefner, leaves the day to day running of the magazine to his daughter. I have no idea of how old Hefner is but I bet he’s several years older than I am and I’m 63. Hef is still living the Playboy life style as much as a man his age can. There’s always viagara.

Playboy was an original. If my memory serves me right it was founded in the late 50s or early 60s. The idea was to combined first-class journalism and literature with photos of beautiful, naked women. Over the years A-List movie stars have posed nude for Playboy. Presidents have been interviewed by Playboy. World-class scientist and cultural icons have shared their ideas through Playboy. Many of the movers and shakers of the world have appeared in the pages of the magazine. The Playboy business model was worth millions of dollars and is still worth millions of dollars. Playboy is no longer just a men’s magazine. It’s into clubs, videos, casinos, real estate and probably other areas I don’t know about. That’s what smart business people do. They succeed in one field and then they diversify into other fields.
When I began the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette I had the business model of Playboy Magazine in mind. My hosting platform does not allow photos of nudes (where would I get them from anyway) or anything pornographic or obscene. No problem. The blog is made up of articles on writing, blogging, commentaries on events I think my readers will be interested in, commentaries on human sexuality and flash fiction stories of which some are erotic.
There are several departments on the blog: Free Editorial Services, Open Contest/Submissions, Sexy Stories, Subscribe and Youwrite.
Guess which department consistently gets more hits than all the other departments combined?
I’m just a businessman, a blogger, trying to make some money blogging.
I enjoyed Playboy. I had to look at the pictures. I never understood the articles.
I cant say I have ever read Playboy, but the female form is a thing of beauty. If it gets you readers Guy keep on trucking. LB

One year for Christmas my husband got me Playgirl, now that was a magazine. You know you had me with the title. Good hook, man.
Well, sex sells, doesn’t it? But sometimes as a girl, I rather read Equire than Cosmopolitan because my favorite gorgeous men are on the cover and are interviewed. Well, Cosmo features some naked random guys but seriously who cares? I prefer a magazine with Pierce Brosnan on the cover, not the next big Madonna.

Very interesting write Guy. I am very familiar with playboy magazine, I used to read my fathers when I was a pre teen, don’t think he knew it was me, he probable thought it was my older brother but I loved the stories very much and I think that was were my love to write erotica started!!
