Basic idea about torrents and the software used to download files from Internet.
I am not an expert in using torrents or a master guide about torrents but I can give you some basic ideas about using torrents and little technical assistance.
Torrents are the files that allow you to download stuffs from Internet from different systems across the world.
If you download a torrent of a movie you will receive small file on your system with extension. Torrent. You will now need software like Azureus, bitcomet etc. to use this file and download the movie.
Open your torrent file with this software and the file opens with the software and starts downloading the content from different systems that contains this movie. These systems from where you download in turn may download chunk of data from your system as well. So, it works more like sharing your files on the Internet. With the help of torrent software you get connected to swarm of network where different computers constantly try and connect with your system and while you download data uploading also happens at the same time.
You can also disable the uploading of files from your system. Set the download and upload speed limits for your system and also optimize your download speeds. Although I don’t know how much secure torrents can be and how much legal it is to download using torrents but there is a boom of torrents on Internet and almost anything from books, games to movies and music can be downloaded using torrents.
From the software like Azureus you can also view the details of the files you are downloading and the statistics such as number of systems connected to your network, download speed, upload speed, estimated time and amount of data downloaded.
