A digital record of your books, CDs, DVDs and games.
Delicious Library is my new favourite piece of software. It uses the iSight camera built into my Macbook to scan the barcodes of CDs, DVDs and books and then places them onto a virtual shelf. I installed Delicious Library a few weeks back, and it is a great way to fill in my spare half hours! I have scanned in all the books I own, as well as my DVD collection. I then progressed onto books that were lying around the house, and even GTAIV into their new virtual home. My virtual book shelves in particular are awesome, the books sizes are replicated in scale to each other. Exactly how I want my virtual library to look!! Now that I have scanned all my books, I get to see their current value on Amazon, and also read reviews and synopsis.
I am happy to see my copy of Jack Kerorac’s “On the Road – the Original scroll” has increased in value since I bought it back in August. Its current value is sitting at 40 British Pounds, making it the best investment on my virtual shelf! After being burgled twice in one year, I am pretty keen to build an inventory of my possessions. Having to compile a list to give for insurance is tough. Having to keep it up to date is even tougher. By investing a little time I can make a backup file of all my books, movies, music. I can also scan in electronic items, so have added my ipod and camera to my library. The practical side of Delicious Library is that it can be backed up on the web. Now if someone brakes in and burgles my house, or worse if my house burnt down, I have a current list of contents.
